Lyrics

HOW LONG IS THE NIGHT?
This song was written by Ann M. Wolf in honor of the families of those who are serving and suffering for our sake in defense of our Constitution, our public safety, or of Liberty itself. It is said that when one member of the family serves and sacrifices, the same holds true for the entire family.

Chorus:
How long is the night? How long is the hour,
When seconds are seared with memories of sorrow?
How long is the night? Ask someone who knows,
Someone who’s walked in the dark night of the soul

Verse One:
There’s a child somewhere, face pressed to the glass
Watchin’ her father disappear fast
Soon mornin’ and night will start feelin’ the same,
While she’s waitin’ for him to come home again…

Chorus:
How long is the night? How long is the hour,
When seconds are seared with memories of sorrow
How long is the night? Ask someone who knows
Someone who’s walked in the dark night of the soul

Verse Two:
There’s a mother somewhere or somebody’s wife
Who’s down on her knees, to pray for his life
For the one who is facin’
Things…no one should see
And while she bein’ his angel,
He’s bein’ her shield….

Chorus:
How long is the night? How long is the hour,
When minutes are filled with hopes for tomorrow?
How long is the night? Ask someone who seen.
Ask those who are wonderin’ if the heart can ever heal.

Chorus:
How long is the night? How long is the hour
When seconds are seared with memories of sorrow?
How long is the night? Ask someone who knows,
Someone who’s walked in the dark night of the soul
How long is… the night?
